When you take family to a park playground, you hope the kids will be safe and can run around happily without concern. We in fact visited Perivale park playground yesterday (Friday) at around 14.00 with an infant grand-daughter. We did (sadly) have to check for broken glass and syringes (both of which have been seen there in the past), but at that time it was looking more or less tidy. I decided to visit the area again this morning, and you can see what I found from the photos below.
Note that this relatively small playground has THREE litter boxes. They are regularly emptied, and none was more than half full. Not more than a few steps away from any of these boxes was the litter you can see in the photos. Apart from stuff associated with food, there were large empty boxes which had contained toys, clearly discarded after opening and NOT then placed in the bins (they would have easily fitted).
I consider this sort of behaviour inconsiderate in the extreme, since it must pose a hazard to kids who might be playing there. So whoever visited the park yesterday afternoon and left this stuff, hang your heads in SHAME. And if you do visit and see eg the containers for toys littering the place, do please help everyone by placing them in a litter bin. The rubbish you see in the photos filled one large council litter bag. Two more of these were collected yesterday from the park itself. Close by was the Green flag award flag fluttering in the breeze. I bet it too felt embarrassed by the state of the playground.
This is very disappointing and, as you say, there is no excuse. Thank you for all the hard work you have done to earn the Green Flag and for continuing to care for beautiful Perivale Park.
