Revolting pollution in Costons Brook

Ben of CURB has sent me these photos of the state of Costons Brook in the park. This is caused by “misconnections” of raw sewage to the rainwater sewer up stream from the Brook.

Costons Brook has several sources, one being the Beaver pond in Paradise fields and another coming from Northolt village. The pollution shown here is relatively recent (two weeks) so somewhere upstream someone has misconnected sewage intended for presumably Mogden sewage works (the third largest such in the UK). CURB works tirelessly to identify such mis-connections but as soon as one is identified and rectified another appears! Let’s hope Costons brook is sorted soon.
