Spring – 2021 style!

Its late February, the snows have gone and the sun has come out. These are photos were taken on a circular walk which encompassed Perivale park and the blossom at the  exit via Ruislip Road, on to the Cuckoo estate avenue and Hanwell community centre and park, then entering the Hanwell Big Local project and the discovery of a delightful small wood in the centre of the housing estates.

Returning via the Longfield meadow wetlands, the resident swans and geese were entertaining the kids and we could hear (but not see) a very loud woodpecker. Back in Perivale park, we spotted a lovely double snowdrop from the planting done two years ago.

  1. Lovely photos Henry & feeling really spring-like the last couple of days. Good to see the swans & geese still there!

The trees with the catkins are Alders. Quite an interesting double form of Snowdrop-presumably planted at some point?

I noticed the flowering Cherry Plum yesterday was attracting the attention of many Honey Bees.

Last Saturday when I went through the park there was a party of 6 Stonechats in the meadow/orchard between the golf course & the playing fields. These were part of a passage through the London area. The following day one was photographed there by one of the Ealing Wildlife FB group when on the same day I had a group of 5 by Ten Acre Wood. No sign of any lingering yesterday in Perivale Park.
