Its been a wet and windy spring so far. Here are some photos of the entrance to Perivale Park near to the South Greenford station/ A40 entrance.
The Tenby daffodils (Narcissus obvallaris) planted last october are flowering, but many produced just leaves with no flowers. No sign of the snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis ‘Flore Pleno’), but they should do better next year.
As the year progresses, the other bulbs planted are hopefully going to emerge, including Common Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum umbellatum), English Bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), Snakeshead Fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris), Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa) and Wild Garlic/ Ramsons (Allium ursinum).
Meanwhile, since our snowdrops did not perform this year, I show some from Welford park, where they have been growing in the grounds for 500 years or so. Nicely naturalised then. Lets hope it does not take that long in Perivale Park!
