This is what we hope to achieve with your help on Saturday June 12th, 2021 at 11.00 for about two hours.
On May 22 we had managed to clear the ground weeds which were strangling the plantings in one of the four flower and grass beds surrounding the benches in the orchard. Then about 4 wheelbarrow’s worth of tree chippings were brought over from the mounds in the park, produced by removing trees last year, to act as a mulch to hold back rapid re-weeding. And there is always the removal of the very invasive thistles which are currently especially enjoying themselves in the meadow and which are preventing other flowers from flourishing.
Richard has also hinted that we may have some extra plants to put into “bald spots”. If you would like to help with this effort, do pop along. And if you don’t feel up to any gardening, come anyway to have a look at the flax in the surrounding meadow area. There are several different kinds of poppies about to flower and the gladioli are also still improving.
