I do think Stipa gigantea is a spectacular grass. Looks good in naturalistic plantings whether prairie type plantings or arid gravel gardens. S. gigantea originally hails from the Iberian peninsula & Morocco.
Years ago when I was managing some hospital garden I had 2 of these in the front lawn. Unfortunately several years the newly emerged Fox cubs loved sitting & playing in them breaking down the flowering stalks.
